INDIA NOTIFIES LESS THAN 40,000 DAILY CORONAVIRUS CASES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN LAST MONTHS
Indian authorities on Tuesday reported fewer than 40,000 cases of coronaviruses during the past 24 hours, the first time the country had fallen below that barrier in three months, and confirmed a second consecutive day with fewer than 1,000 deaths from covid-19.
The Government of India indicated in its balance sheet, released through Twitter, that in the last 24 hours, 37,566 infections and 907 deaths were confirmed, bringing the total to 30,316,897 and 397,637, respectively.
The death toll is down from 979 confirmed on Monday, the first time the country has dropped to less than 1,000 deaths since April, amid the downward trend in recent weeks.
Likewise, the Executive indicated that there are currently more than 552,000 active cases in the country, while affirming that 29,366,601 people have recovered as of the date of covid-19, including about 57,000 during the last day.
India experienced a dramatic increase in coronavirus infections between April and May, months when it was above 100,000 cases a day, including three weeks above 300,000 and four days above 400,000 positive.
